DURATION: 2 DAYS
Galway is always the first location we recommend to visitors of Ireland. Beyond the tribal university town lies the beautiful, unspoiled Connemara landscape where lakes, rivers, mountains, wildlife, flora and fauna all lead to the Atlantic Ocean on the edge of Europe. The area is an ideal location for a refreshing get-away from the hustle and bustle of modern urban living.
Ballinahinch Castle has been idyllically located on the River Owenmore since 1756. Retreat to your river view room (above) and relax into a slipper bath with an old fashioned or glass of prosecco. The hotel has two restaurants to replenish after a days adventuring. Perhaps the real attraction is the welcoming nature of the castle and its guests yet to matched by any other we have stayed with, its a hotel you will most definitely want to return to.
The castle is located on 450 acre estate, with a number of hikes through the surrounding lakes and mountains. Rainbows are plentiful so be sure to pack an umbrella. The river and hotel are renowned for salmon fly fishing with a variety of outdoor activities on offer. We would highly recommended ordering a picnic from the bar, taking the scenic car journey to the nearby Kylemore Abbey and its mirror lake, and enjoying the area in all its beauty.
Treat yourself with a duvet day package which includes bath salts, chocolcates, prosecco, robes / slippers, dinner from the restaurant to your room followed by a movie of your choice with popcorn and treats.
